The standard combination is:
- English Language
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics (or Mathematics at some schools)
Most medical schools require Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and many also expect Mathematics at O'level. A few accept Mathematics in the UTME combination instead of Physics — check the JAMB brochure and the specific university's requirements.
Do not swap Chemistry for a "simpler" subject. Medicine without Chemistry is not a valid combination in Nigerian medical schools.
Beyond subjects, Medicine is highly competitive: aim for a strong UTME score, excellent O'level grades in the sciences, and serious screening preparation.
