I keep seeing people talk about Direct Entry but I do not understand who it is for. What is the actual difference between UTME and Direct Entry, and can I use my ND to skip UTME?
What is the difference between JAMB UTME and Direct Entry?

UTME is the standard entry route for candidates with O'level results (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB). You write the computer-based test and use the score for admission.
Direct Entry (DE) is for candidates who already hold a higher qualification, such as:
- A National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND)
- A NCE for education courses
- A first degree for a second degree
- Some advanced-level results
Direct Entry candidates are usually admitted into 200 level, depending on the school and course. You register through the JAMB DE portal and the school screens you — some schools still require a written test or interview.
Important: your ND/HND must be from a recognised institution and relevant to the course you are applying for. A pass-level ND may not be accepted where credit is required.
